Guaranteed £80M EuroMillions Jackpot

Play for Free with LottoByText

Has it seemed a bit quiet in the EuroMillions world recently? Hold your horses! This is big news: there is a massive GUARANTEED £80 million* jackpot up for grabs this Friday on the EuroMillions and it could be yours!

The draw on Friday 28th of September marks the second multi-million pound EuroMillions Superdraw of 2012 so far. Superdraw events are big news in the lottery world and don’t come round too often.

The most recent special EuroMillions draw was for the opening of the London 2012 Olympic games. If you can’t remember back that far, the iconic EuroMillions draw was bought to life by the National Lottery as a ‘thank you’ for the British public’s help to fund this year’s summer Olympics.

100 millionaires were made the night of the 27th July through the ‘Millionaire Raffle’. It is unfortunate that, as of yet, not all of the millionaire raffle winners have been found. However, just this week, LottoByText news learnt of one lucky winner from Harrow who finally claimed, bringing the grand total of claimed winners up to 97.

This Friday’s Superdraw is slightly different. The ‘100 millionaires’ draw guaranteed that 100 people would be made instant millionaires, separate from the standard jackpot amount. This Friday’s draw, however, is like a typical draw but with a guaranteed £80 million* jackpot.

Here’s some Superdraw trivia for you to impress your friends with on Friday night:

The very first Superdraw took place on Saturday 7th January 1995 (only the 8th ever draw from the National Lottery) with a guaranteed jackpot of £10 million. The first ever Wednesday draw on 5th February 1997 was also a Superdraw with an unusual jackpot amount of £9,999,999. The three subsequent Wednesday draws were Superdraws – designed to give the (then new) Wednesday evening draw a kick-start.

Oh, how times have changed! The first Superdraws talked of £10 million jackpots, whereas nowadays it’s more like jackpots of €100 million.

Has inflation really increased the jackpots by this amount? Not really. Remember that Superdraws are now part of the EuroMillions, thus increasing the amount of people playing in the draw and also the cost to play.

So you want a piece of the winnings?

EuroMillions Winners: YouTube Special

I must admit, over the past month I’ve been pretty lazy when it comes to keeping up with the latest Lottery videos. What was I thinking? I love videos!

So, in this week’s instalment, I have brought together some ‘good news’ stories from the EuroMillions to get you all excited about potentially winning the EuroMillions £80 million ‘Superdraw’, which will occur on the 28th of September – that’s next week!

Feast your eyes on my top 3, hand-picked, EuroMillions-themed videos from YouTube:

EUROMILLIONS WINNERS: Third time lucky:

Talk about luck! Dave and Angela Dawes win the £100m EuroMillions jackpot on their third attempt at playing. Ah, if only. Watch the video to find out what their plans for spending it included (and there is even talk of wedding bells!)

EuroMillions lottery jackpot winners: Winning £148.6m is 'slightly frightening':

Gillian and Adrian Bayford describe the moment they realised that they had the
winning EuroMillions lottery numbers! They talk of how they checked, double-checked and triple-checked the tickets just to make sure. I suppose with a win that life-changing you wouldn’t believe it until you had that the over-sized cheque safely in your bank account!

Hitting the jackpot:

My last video takes us back to Colin and Chris Weir’s iconic EuroMillions win of July 2011! Their £161m windfall went in the record books as the biggest EuroMillions jackpot win of all time. This jackpot is just under a fifth of a billion pounds! Lucky devils!

This certainly has got my heart racing. How about yours? These videos all make winning the lottery sound like a piece of cake.

However, I’ll be the first to admit, it’s not.

But don’t lose faith. It is possible. 55,954 LottoByText customers could tell you so, as they all won on the National Lottery and EuroMillions this month alone.

EuroMillions: Britain Takes Centre Stage

2012 undoubtedly will go down in British history as one it’s greatest ever years of sporting achievement.

If you can’t remember what happened this summer, here are a few reminders:  Bradley Wiggins won the Tour de France; incredible success was achieved by British athletes in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and, as of yesterday, Andy Murray took his first Grand Slam title in the USA Open at Flushing Meadows.

It has, no doubt, been an unprecedented summer for sporting accomplishments and one that will live in our memories forever.

I am, in fact, sure that I will be speaking highly of the 2012 sporting heroes to my grandchildren!

Perhaps potentially winning the football World Cup may compete for ‘best sporting achievement’, but that wouldn’t be a British achievement, would it?

In the same manner, Britain’s success with the EuroMillions in 2012 is truly remarkable.

Last Friday’s £37 million jackpot was the 14th largest jackpot win ever in the UK and the (currently unrevealed) winner of this EuroMillions jackpot is the 8th British winner this year alone.

If we total up the amount Britain’s jackpot winners have pocketed this year, it’s over £440 million. That’s nearly half a billion pounds just by playing the EuroMillions, and all in one year!

The most notable winners of this year are Colin and Chris Weir from Scotland who landed the iconic £148m windfall in August. LottoByText learns they’ve been busy putting their winnings to good use. Read how they extended their good will to a local four-year-old girl with cerebral palsy.

Now, if we take a look at the National Lottery‘s history, it reveals some interesting statistics. Since it’s incarnation in the 1990’s, over 2,900 people have become millionaires and, in total, players have raised an amazing £28 billion (and counting) for National Lottery Good Causes.

Furthermore, National Lottery Good Causes has been very busy funding our Olympic athletes. For without the funding provided by the National Lottery, our medal haul and unbelievable summer of sport would never have been as successful.

Read about our athletes and what they think about the National Lottery’s effect on sport here.

It surely has been a summer to be proud of Britain! Have you felt the same?

Here is a breakdown of the winning numbers for Friday’s EuroMillions draw:

Friday’s lucky numbers were: 13, 15, 30, 35 and 42. The lucky stars on the winning ticket were 4 and 6.

The millionaire raffle ticket number was SHY258723.

Today’s EuroMillions jackpot is an estimated £11,000,000. Play in a lottery syndicate now.
